על המשחק:

המשחק הממשיך את סדרת הקווסטים המיוחדת הנקראת Myst ממשיך את קו העלילה 10 שנים לאחר אירועי Myst III. שחקני Myst ותיקים לא אהבו את הממשק החדש שנעשה עבור Uru: Ages Beyond Myst ששבר את המסורת שקמה בעקבות Myst הראשון ועל כן החליטה החברה לחזור לשורשים. הגרפיקה של המשחק נותרה מהממת ורמת הפירוט של העולם (הכולל יערות ירוקים, ארכיטקטורה ייחודית ומתקנים מסקרנים) רק גדלה. הסביבה עצמה הפכה ליותר אינטראקטיבית וניתן כעת גם לצלם את המסך על מנת להשקיע בו מחשבה נוספת במהלך המשחק בעת חיפוש רמזים.

סיפור המשחק, כאמור, ממשיך כ-10 מאירועי Exile, המשחק הקודם. הפטריארך אטרוס ואישתו קתרין דנים בגורלם של שני בניהם אשר היו לכודים עוד מהמשחק הראשון, כאשר פיצוץ מסתורי מתרחש וביתם הצעירה יישה נעלמת. בשלב זה ארטוס מגייס את עזרתך ואתה יוצא למסע אשר לוקח אותך על פני ארבעה עידנים שונים. במשחק הזה יתגלו תשובות לשאלות רבות שצצו במהלך המשחקים הקודמים (ועל כן שמו Revelations) כגון השאלות שצצו אודות האחים סירוס ואקנאר- מדוע כלא אותם אטרוס מלכתחילה? האם שינו את דרכיהם לאחר שנים כה רבות בהן היו כלואים? מה קרה להם במהלך השנים הללו? כל השאלות הללו ועוד מטופלות במשחק בצורה פותחת עיניים.

Nevertheless, the developers at Ubisoft Montreal have produced in Myst IV a sequel that carries on the series' high standards.
