Visually stunning, loaded with cameos and dripping with both Square and Disney nostalgia, Kingdom Hearts will grab you from the opening to the end. Occasionally plagued by a frustrating camera, stocked with an unappealing central minigame and quite difficult in places, a lot of things could detract from Kingdom Hearts, yet it's an experience not to be missed. The plot, characters and story carry a lot of weight, but the technically brilliant blend of RPG and action elements will remind you of the glorious edifice that is the Legend of Zelda series. In fact, comparisons to Zelda aren't far off the mark, but its party system, cooperative AI and deeper experience system along with rich character abilities puts the authority of the crown firmly in this Kingdom. If you've ever enjoyed a Disney movie, RPG or third-person action title, Kingdom Hearts has something for you, making it a PS2 must-have on the order of Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy X.

Kingdom Hearts is the story of Sora, a 14-year-old boy whose world is shattered when a violent storm hits his island-paradise home and he is separated from his two closest friends, Riku, a 15-year-old boy, and Kairi, a 14-year-old girl. At the same time, there is turmoil in Disney castle. King Mickey is missing, and Court Wizard Donald and Captain Goofy set out to find him. On their travels they meet Sora on his own search for his lost friends. The three are told of ominous creatures known as the Heartless - beings without hearts derived from an unknown dimension and as it turns out, manipulated by Disney villains and the ones responsible for the devastating storm. Upon discovering the link between the Heartless, the storm and the disappearance of King Mickey, Sora, Donald and Goofy join forces and heip familiar Disney heroes to save their worlds.
